Louis Johnson Goalkeeper
Louis is the supporters player of the year for season 2008-2009. It’s said that he has links to air traffic control because his kicks come down with snow on the ball.
Mark Powling Defender
Mark is the son of former Arsenal centre half Ritchie Powling so he’s always been a “Gooner” and he plays a pivotal role at the heart of our defence.
Ed Cussons Defender
Tough tackling Ed is a new signing at Debenham LC and is one of a quartet of ex Diss Town players in the team.
Neil Gooderham Defender
Neil joined us from Walsham le Willows in 2008-2009, a defender with a big heart, and even bigger shorts.
Jon Ince Defender
Incey is another team member with a famous football relation being cousin to Nicky Shorey. Both are left sided but one has pace, vision, the ability to go past players and an eye for goal, the other one plays for Aston Villa.
Shaun French Defender
Shaun is the son of Debenham Football legend Gary French and only differs from his father in heading, passing, tackling and good looks.
Dale Vince Midfield
Vinny is a highly experienced and much respected midfield player and is a cult hero in the Hamilton Smith stand. As big a fshion icon as Beckham many fans and even committee members follow his grooming regime.
Rob Kemp Midfield
Kempy usually rivals Stuart Jopling at the top of the scoring charts but then goes into his shell for September, October, November etc etc.
Kevin Barker Midfield
Barks is the proverbial “Covers every blade of grass” midfielder but whilst he can thread a pass through the eye of a needle he has great difficulty getting the ball between the vital 24 feet at the end of the pitch.
Kiefer Bultitude Midfield
Chicken’s close control draws many a ‘fowl’ from the opposition. He was signed from Ipswich Wanderers for a ‘poultry’ fee.
Dean Sadler Midfield
Dean is a busy midfielder with an eye for a goal. He teamed up with the Hornets in 2008-2009 having been at Ipswich Athletic for 7 seasons.
Warren Taylor-Holt Midfield
‘Wozza’ is a marathon runner who definitely goes that extra mile for the team, he scored the goal of the season in 2008-2009 in our promotion season.
Shaun Thorrold Midfield
Shaun joins the Hornets having played for Walsham le Willows for three seasons after being a product of the Bury Town Academy. He is fast and skilful and equally at home in midfield or at full back.
David Ford Midfield
Fordy is a recent addition from Felixstowe and Walton, a speedy wide player scouted by Paddy Turley when he isn’t playing, which is regularly.
Paddy Turley Midfield
Paddy joins the navy in November but he can’t swim and is hardly ship-shape after missing a great many games through injury. On his day he can be a match winner, unfortunately that day is Wednesday and we play Tuesday and Saturday.
Stuart Jopling Forward
A much travelled and much sought after striker who won the first division Golden Boot in 2008-2009. He has scored 100 goals for the Hornets in just 114 games.
Ian Gedny Forward
‘Geds’ is the Hornets assistant manager and still retains an amazing turn of pace despite his age and being a smoker. He used to celebrate scoring regularly with a ciggy but now the goals come in patches.
Ben Deacon Forward
Deaks signed from L’Oreal - sorry - Diss Town, because he’s worth it. With never a hair out of place his good conditioning allows him to outpace the opposition. He frequently needs the physio to deal with his split ends.
Danny Allen Forward
Danny signed from neighbours Stowmarket, we think he could be Debenham’s answer to Christiano Ronaldo - without the diving.
David Cannon Forward
David played half a season for Debenham LC FC before a serious knee injury put his football on hold. Played recently for Aveley & East Thurrock and Manager Mel Aldis says he has the ammunition to shoot down the opposition.
Reece Turner Forward
Reece made the transition from Youth to Reserve team and is now knocking on the door of the first team. Started as a keeper but got a chance up front when his team were short of strikers and smashed in five goals in the match.
Mel Aldis Manager
Mel is now in his seventh season at Maitlands and has guided the club from junior football to the heights of the Ridgeons Premier Division. He is the joker in the pack, the manager that players want to play for.
Kerry Taylor-Holt Physiotherapist
Kerry is probably our best signing ever as she brings her healing hands, and hairdressing skills, to the Debenham players (see Ben Deacon above).
