Debenham LC FC Reserves v Needham Market FC Reserves
17th September 2011
Maitlands Football Ground Debenham Leisure Centre
With visitors Needham Market experiencing an indifferent start to their season hopes were high as Teeder returned from injury to Captain an exciting line-up. With a stiff breeze in their favour Needham had the better of the early possession, their quick feet and high intensity proving the difference between the sides.
On 17 mins Debenham were undone when a training ground corner move was perfectly executed by the Needham full-back, his powerful shot from the edge of the box following a rehearsed step-over, giving Chilvers no chance. 0-1.
With shots and free-kicks raining in, Chilvers was kept busy. Johnson also was calmly dealing with all that was being thrown at him and his through ball to Burton was Debenham's first real chance on 30 mins, the striker hitting wide.
Needham continued to press and were rewarded when Debenham failed to deal with a corner kick on 37 mins the loose ball was gratefully toe poked home by the Needham No 7 0-2.

Debenham would have hoped to fair better with the wind at their backs but it was not to be. Within 2 mins of the re-start Needham extended their lead in an almost carbon copy of their second goal, with the No.7 again on hand. 0-3.
Debenham continued to work hard to get a grip of the game and were beginning to create chances, Seccombe coming close twice, albeit from range.
Inaccurate and rushed passes were costing Debenham hard won territory and possession. Then on 63 mins neat interplay put Smith through one on one, but the No.10’s effort beat both keeper and post. Minutes later he atoned for the miss with an exquisite free-kick that was powerfully headed home by Barker from 2 yards. 1-3.
Teeder was replaced by Rowntree on 80mins, the youngster almost scoring with his first touch following a corner. Five minutes later a curling shot from Seccombe was clawed away by the Needham keeper, but this proved to be the last clear opportunity for Debenham.
